It is not something everyone would be willing to risk their wellbeing for, much less with no reward. It is an admirable trait.
[Far too old and cynical was he to expect people do the bare minimum in terms of humane decency, far less for them to go out of their way to help others. At least his dour outlook let him appreciate such rare instances when he encountered them.]
I am glad to see human resilience carries over between worlds, more so that there are some who put it to use for noble causes.
