Humans have come a long way, where I'm from. It's a huge culture shock for me, being here, but I have to hope that if my ancestors could get their shit together, anybody can.
Such is what we are all faced with. Stranded among an unfamiliar land with unfamiliar customs, the most we can hope for is to carry the remnants of our lost cultures upon our shoulders. We represent that which has been lost, and what is important is that you have represented yours without imposing it upon those here.
